Organization Overview: Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to ending Veteran homelessness in Minnesota. Operating with a budget exceeding $14 million yearly, MACV offers various programs in housing, employment, and legal services to assist homeless or at-risk Veterans and their families across Minnesota. With around 100 employees statewide, MACV has multiple office sites with centralized administrative functions based in St. Paul.

Position Overview: The Client Intake and Triage Specialist role at MACV involves evaluating eligibility for MACV services and referring Veterans to appropriate resources. This pivotal position serves as the initial contact point for Veterans seeking assistance during housing crises.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Screen and evaluate Veteran eligibility for MACV services via phone, email, walk-ins, and referrals.
  • Forward eligible referrals to case managers and maintain records in databases.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with procedures in handling client information.
  • Obtain necessary documentation from eligible Veterans for referral assistance.
  • Support administrative functions when required, including financial processes.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities in crisis management situations.
  • Proficient in managing information using database systems.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with individuals facing homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges.
  • Familiarity with MACV programs and local resources.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Preferably a Veteran or knowledge of Veteran-related issues.
  • Experience with client tracking systems and databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Compensation: $43,000 - $48,000 per year.
