About the role: As an integral part of the Information Technology Team, the Help Desk Technician is responsible for desk side support to ensure correct installation of computer software products, timely modification and repair of hardware malfunctions, and prompt resolution of technical problems while providing user education. The Help Desk Technician will assist the IT Systems Administrator with activities related to the upkeep, maintenance, and administration of computer systems, network infrastructure, server infrastructure, phone system, and email. Additionally, the Help Desk Technician will support IT Department projects and initiatives.

What you will be doing:

Help Desk Support

  • Respond to and assist users with hardware, software, network, internet, printers, tablets, scanners, or other computer related needs, proactively and as needed.
  • Configure and maintain employee Active Directory accounts, email accounts, phone extensions and other system access.
  • Install, configure, and test new equipment, software, and other peripherals, either when requested or when need arises.
  • Track service requests, and time spent on those requests through company ticketing software.
  • Maintain asset inventory documentation across company devices.

Network and Server Assistance

  • Assist with server maintenance and creation of new virtual servers.
  • Assist with network maintenance, including running new cable, terminating ends, and setup of wireless access points. Assist with data backup and recovery of all critical company data.
  • Contribute to network and server documentation in order to have a robust IT knowledgebase.
  • Assist with Company phone setup.

Departmental Growth and Education

  • Educate and train new and existing employees on computer-related skills when the need is identified or requested. Participate in educational opportunities to encourage personal growth, through reading of professional publications, maintenance of personal network and/or self-training of expertise.
  • Accomplish organization's goals by accepting personal ownership for assigned tasks, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Follow all assigned tasks through to completion in a timely and efficient manner, actively seeking assistance or information from related parties as needed to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Accountabilities may also include other related activities as assigned.

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of professional IT experience
  • Working knowledge of PC network with Unix/Linux/Windows servers, software installation and maintenance, hardware installation and maintenance, Active Directory, DNS, VPN, deskside support, printer support, routers/switches/hubs, wired and wireless networking, Microsoft Office products, backup procedures, and ticketing software.
  • Independent and teamwork traits as required in fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to lead and resolve problems on a professional level
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects on-time, accurately and successfully
  • Ability to maintain and adhere to strict confidentiality standards
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow written and verbal communication
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel on overnight business trips is required
  • Ability to work in all DecoArt locations as required
  • Physical abilities including seeing product colors and differentiating between shades, gripping and grasping, turning and twisting wrists and hands, repetitively lifting materials up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally, crouching, kneeling, and standing up to ten (10) hours a day
