Job Description
Join our team at Slumberland Furniture as a Warehouse Team Member. We are currently hiring dedicated individuals who can operate forklifts and handle merchandise movement efficiently. This full-time position offers a competitive starting pay of $17 per hour, Monday to Friday starting at 7:00 am.
Primary Objective & Scope of Position:
- Perform duties related to merchandise movement, including storing, moving, and distributing products.
- Lead by example and provide training to other team members.
Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
Merchandise Movement
- Efficiently move merchandise within locations to maximize space.
- Handle merchandise transportation to and from the show floor for storage, delivery, or customer pickup.
- Utilize the point of sale (POS) system for effective inventory management.
- Ensure accuracy in customer orders and system records.
- Receive incoming merchandise and prepare outgoing items for shipment.
Training
- Lead by example and provide training to colleagues.
Customer Service
- Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues, and vendors.
- Ensure inventory accuracy by resolving discrepancies and keeping management informed.
Safety
- Adhere to safety policies and practices, model safe behaviors, and follow risk reduction procedures.
- Maintain equipment and merchandise by handling, operating, and maintaining them properly.
- Maintain a safe and organized facility following company guidelines.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED, or currently working towards it.
- Basic math skills.
- Knowledge of tools, hardware components, and product assembly.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Point of sale (POS) knowledge is desirable.
