LPN - Specialty Acute Care

Job Description

Main Hospital 5W (MH5W) is a 16 bed acute care unit with a unique clinical focus on providing care for liver failure patients, including transplant recipients, in the pre and post-operative settings, liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, acute kidney injury, and sickle cell. The LPN will work collaboratively alongside Hepatologists and medical teams to provide patients and their families with high-quality, evidenced-based care. Additionally, this position will require the LPN's skills in multiple physical locations under MUSC Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, goal-directed, and family-centered patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Deliver safe and effective care and interact with other members of the healthcare team to achieve desired results and outcomes.

Requirements

• Completion of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• Minimum of six months of LPN experience.
• Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
• Current CPR card - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card.
• Ability to demonstrate commitment to patient-centered care philosophy as evidenced by effective communication skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to perform various job functions such as standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and dealing effectively with stressful situations. The LPN should also be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required, maintain good olfactory sensory function, and be qualified physically for respirator use.
