Principal Application Engineer (Full-Stack)

Job Description

Discover Financial Services is looking for a talented Principal Application Engineer (Full-Stack) to join their Collections Value Stream team. As a key member of an Agile team, you will be involved in building and maintaining consumer-focused systems within the company, contributing to the Collections experience on the Discover website and software used by call service agents. Responsibilities

• Creates solutions addressing high impact technology and business priorities.
• Competent in multiple contexts, including programming languages, security, automation, testing, and business domains.
• Participates in strategic technology decisions impacting Discover.
• Proactively identifies and mitigates issues based on intuition and experience.
• Coaches technology communities at Discover.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus engineering scale (for internal applicants).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in front-end web development with frameworks like Angular or React.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, OpenShift.
• Expertise in API service architecture development.
• Strong automation mindset for testing and build/deploy concepts.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Github Actions, Chef, Ansible, Nexus.
• Familiarity with tech stack including Java, Spring, Kafka, Openshift, Jenkins.
