Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. (AWG) is the largest cooperative food wholesaler in the nation, serving independently owned supermarkets across 31 states. We are looking for a Lead Grocery Store Designer to join our team in overseeing design and construction coordination for grocery store development in the Kansas City Division. Responsibilities include creating floor plans, advising members on store development, coordinating equipment installation, and managing project budgets. The ideal candidate should have a background in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems, CAD proficiency, and experience in retail grocery design. This role involves some travel within Kansas and Missouri.
Responsibilities
- Meet with member retailers to design fixture layouts and recommend building components.
- Supervise building construction, review construction documents, and manage project budgets.
- Coordinate equipment installation, negotiate with vendors, and resolve construction issues at job sites.
- Provide training to Store Engineers, manage equipment/billing departments, and resolve departmental issues.
Qualifications
Knowledge: Understanding of the retail grocery industry, CAD software, construction management, and refrigeration systems. Experienced in presentations.
Abilities: Attention to detail, time management, technical aptitude, relationship building, and multitasking skills.
Experience: High school diploma required. College degree or equivalent work experience preferred. 2-5 years in grocery store design/executing, construction trade, or managing employees.
