Job Description

Professional Engineering Consultants is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector in the Topeka, KS area. As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting various types of construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and specifications. You will also develop and maintain professional relationships, respond to citizen complaints, and perform materials testing when required. This role requires an individual who is comfortable working in outdoor and sometimes extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect various types of construction projects to ensure compliance with regulations and contract specifications.
  • Review and interpret all types of construction drawings, plans, and perform checks on infrastructure, transportation, subdivision, and site plans.
  • Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, respond to questions, and make recommendations for necessary changes.
  • Complete and maintain daily/weekly inspection reports, track contractor pay item quantities, review contractor pay estimates, and conduct final inspections.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other departments and organizations.
  • May provide materials testing in the field on projects as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Five or more years of construction inspection experience preferred.
  • KDOT Inspection Experience preferred.
  • KDOT CITT and ACI Certifications preferred.
  • Considerable skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and maintain inspection field and office data, reports, and systems.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate complex technical information.
