Job Description

We are hiring for the position of Engineer II - DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing) at EarthScope Consortium. This full-time role based in Socorro, New Mexico involves managing and implementing field projects to provide technical support for geophysical instruments and networks. Engineers at EarthScope represent principles of professionalism and efficiency in project operations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement geophysical projects of varying complexity, including logistics, maintenance, network configuration, and data flow activities.
  • Solve technical issues related to geophysical sensors and data communications.
  • Assist in designing and testing new systems and evaluating instrument design and data adequacy.
  • Draft technical reports, develop documentation formats, and contribute to project budgeting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, geosciences, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks for Bachelor's degree holders, or 1+ year for Master's degree holders.
  • Proficiency in data quality analysis software is preferred.

Additional Information

This role may require travel up to 30% of the time, community-based DAS program operation, and working with specialized fiber optic equipment in remote and extreme environments.
