Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join Discover, a leading digital banking and payments company. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will work on holistic engineering deliverables, determine technology patterns, guide junior engineers, and foster the adoption of new technologies. Your responsibilities will include building, managing, and supporting core infrastructure and security services in the public cloud, automate processes, and support a diverse set of cloud technologies. This role requires hands-on experience in configuration management, infrastructure as code, cloud solutions, and collaboration with product teams to deliver world-class products and services.

Responsibilities

• Engineer complex public cloud (AWS, GCP) solutions.
• Implement configuration management and Infrastructure as Code.
• Lead technology communities and influence product commitments.
• Use automation, system tools, open-source solutions, and 'security first' principles.
• Participate in team agile ceremonies, demos, and presentations.
• Contribute to high-level solution design approaches and drive key software delivery capabilities.
• Support research activities and foster the adoption of new technologies.
• Coach immediate chapter and promote engineering best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or related field.
• Technical proficiency in the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• GCP and AWS public cloud experience.
• Demonstrates growth mindset and quick learning of new technologies.
• Comfortable working in agile-based teams.
• Capable of collaborating with stakeholders and project leaders.
• Consistent follow-through and willingness to accept challenges.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Open Shift.
