Principal Cybersecurity Engineer ( Cloud Security )

Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer (Cloud Security) to join Discover Financial Services, a leading digital banking and payments company. As the Principal Cybersecurity Engineer, you will design the Cybersecurity engineering roadmap, deliver secure systems, lead technical projects, and manage risk requirements. This role is instrumental in driving Cybersecurity solutions, optimization, process engineering, and risk mitigation in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as the principal advisor on Cybersecurity matters to upper management.
• Operate cloud security products and analyze events to detect potential security threats.
• Explore technology trends to keep the organization's Cybersecurity competitive edge.
• Define the strategic direction of the team and provide leadership.
• Create and maintain the Cybersecurity technology roadmap and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external partners and oversee project implementation.
• Research, engineer, and integrate new Cybersecurity solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in scripting and coding (e.g., Python, shell scripting).
• Knowledge of Cloud architecture and securing cloud communications (AWS, GCP).
• Experience with Restful Services, AWS services, and OpenShift container platform.
• Understanding of access control systems, PKI, multi-factor authentication, and entitlements management.
