Job Description

The Florida Department of Financial Services, Office of the General Counsel, is seeking Senior Attorneys and Attorneys to join its Contracts & Rulemaking, Prosecution & Enforcement, and Workers' Compensation sections in Tallahassee, Florida. Senior Attorneys work on a sophisticated portfolio with private-sector relevance, while Attorney positions provide training for those newer to the practice of law. Responsibilities

  • Represent DFS in transactional matters, contract drafting, and negotiations.
  • Provide legal counsel on competitive solicitations and rule promulgation.
  • Handle licensee discipline, licensure denial, and rule development for various divisions.
  • Participate in administrative litigation related to workers' compensation coverage and defense.
  • Assist in self-insurance regulation, injured employee assistance, and rule development.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in the Florida Bar.
  • Prior experience in legal practice, preferably in areas related to contracts, insurance, or workers' compensation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and handle complex legal issues efficiently.
