Solid Waste Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Solid Waste Technician to join the team at the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin Co AL. As a Solid Waste Technician, you will perform a variety of manual tasks, including maintenance work, trash removal, and operating trucks and light tractors. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with waste disposal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor tasks such as mowing grass, pruning shrubs, and removing trash from SWDA property.
• Operate collection trucks and lift garbage cans.
• Drive trucks and light tractors while in training.
• Follow safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

• Basic skills in operating trucks and light tractors.
• Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and in emergency situations.
• Valid Driver's License required (CDL for promotion).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds.
• Mobility to bend, stand, move, and operate vehicles.
• Exposure to adverse environmental conditions and physical dexterity for manual work.

Compensation

Salary Range: $16.54 - $27.10 per hour.
